Python
Application logic, event handling, filesystem operations, configuration, and desktop behavior are implemented in Python.
GTINK OS is an experimental desktop environment built in Python with Tkinter. This page documents the current technical foundation, how the Windows executable is packaged, and the areas being developed next. It is a project overview—not a claim that every planned feature is already complete.
A lightweight desktop simulator with a custom GTINK interface, persistent local settings, and modular application concepts.
Application logic, event handling, filesystem operations, configuration, and desktop behavior are implemented in Python.
The desktop shell and internal app windows use Tkinter widgets styled with GTINK's dark surfaces and neon-cyan accents.
Local configuration and selected user data are stored in files. pathlib provides filesystem path handling for the app.
PyInstaller can bundle the Python application into a Windows executable. A one-file build does not turn this project into a full operating system kernel.
The current design direction keeps the neon-cyan desktop shell, taskbar, Start menu attached to the user button, desktop icons, and internal app windows.
The App Store can describe built-in utilities, planned apps, and separate projects such as StackDetect and AI ACCORD without implying they are installed locally.
Run these commands from the folder that contains your current main Python file. Adjust the filename if your working build uses a different version.
# Install or update PyInstaller
python -m pip install --upgrade pyinstaller
# Build the windowed executable
python -m PyInstaller --onefile --windowed --name "GTINK OS" gtinkos.py

Tip: add --icon app_icon.ico when the icon file exists at that path. Test the executable on a clean Windows account before sharing it. Some antivirus tools may flag unsigned one-file executables; code signing and release checks can help users verify the publisher.
The precise folders depend on the active source version. This is a conceptual structure for keeping the main shell, app modules, assets, and user data manageable.

Preserve the existing shell while checking settings, wallpaper, icons, app launching, and window behavior.
Move suitable utilities into separate modules and add focused tests without destabilizing the current design.
Versioned builds, changelogs, checksums, issue reporting, and a public repository when the project is ready to share.
The public source repository link is not configured on this page yet. Until the repository is ready, use the GTINK OS homepage, System Log, and App Store to follow project updates and current app statuses.
